AAOmega detectors upgrade

Scheduled for commissioning 2014

AAOmega is an existing spectrograph on the Anglo-Australian Telescope (AAT), operated by the Australian Astronomical Observatory (AAO). The spectrograph is a dual-beam system with a blue arm and a red arm. The dual beam system covers the wavelength range 370-850nm at low resolution, and is tunable over this entire range at higher resolutions. AAOmega can be fed either by the 2dF robotic positioner in Multi-Object Spectroscopy (MOS) mode, or it can be fed by the SPIRAL Integral Field Unit (IFU).

The AAOmega spectrograph is currently being upgraded with two new CCDs as part of the Australian Government's Super Science Initiative and financed from the Education Investment Fund (EIF).
